Wendy Moore’s top 3 tile combinations from the renovations on Selling Houses Australia

Working on a show like Selling Houses Australia means making hundreds, if not thousands, of decisions for every renovation. Each home is unique and needed a different character and style to appeal to a different sector of the market in its particular postcode. “We did at least one bathroom renovation in every home,” explains the show’s interior design expert Wendy Moore. “It meant I got to look over a lot of tile samples! We used some really great, practical tiles and some real showstoppers.” Here are some of Wendy’s favourites.

Trend 1: Carrara marble with a touch of brass

This family bathroom desperately needed an overhaul, and now it simply sings with gorgeous style! The feature tiles are Cascade Terrazzo Bianco Carrara from Decor8 offset by classic Sicily Stone in White Matt from Beamont Tiles. Wendy’s top tip is to offset detailed or intricate tiles like the carrara with a simple, large format tiles. “It allows the feature to shine, and keeping larger format tiles on the floor makes for easier cleaning,” she says.

Also from Beaumont Tiles is the Kingsley vanity with Carrara top, Modern Oblong framed mirror in Brushed Brass and Lina hardware in Brushed Gold.

Trend 2: Fish scale tiles and terrazzo

It’s amazing what the right mix of tiles can do, elevating a space from basic to inspired so simply and effectively. This glamorous little wet zone now has three tiles all from Beautmont Tiles, each with subtle pattern and movement. For the floors, Wendy Moore wanted something simple - a tile with a dash of marble and aggregate that nods to on-trend terrazzo was the obvious choice for 70s-infused style. The true hero here is the strip of tiles that acts as a splashback to the vanity, while making it a key feature of the room and drawing the eye upwards - a great design trick in small spaces like this!

“The fish scale-style mosaics bring a gorgeous wash of blue, seafoam green and turquoise - and the shape and colour palette complements the elongated rectangular mosaic tiles perfectly” ~ interiors expert Wendy Moore

Trend 3: Subtle green kit kat tiles

In this update, Wendy’s brief was to deliver a bathroom with updated coastal-meets-Boho flair. The right tiles were essentials. This boho bathroom is kitted out in Beaumont Tiles finest, from the Iris vanity backed by Ignition Mint Gloss mosaics, to the Misha fittings in Gold.
