Redland Bay: restful Hamptons living

Redland Bay renovation revealed

In Series 15, episode 3 of Selling Houses Australia, host Andrew Winter, landscaper Dennis Scott and interiors expert Wendy Moore headed to Redland Bay, Queensland. It was a big brief for this tired and dated abode. The beloved home of owners Carol and Andrew who built it in the early 2000s, it needed a huge refresh and a rethink of the floorplan to make it work. Paint was transformative, with a paltte of Planet Mod and Strauss White from Wattyl now bringing cohesion and calm to the house. Natural light now flows, framed by Silhouette and Lumishades shades from Luxaflex; and lots of natural texture is underfoot thanks to rugs from Flooring Xtra.

Did the Selling Houses Australia Redland Bay home sell? We are happy to report that it is currently under contract.

Kitchen: When the kitchen has great bones, respraying the cabinetry can deliver a serious style update without a huge expense. The team also added new cabinetry, sourced from Kaboodle, and updated appliances with new models from Euromaid. With resprayed benchtops, new handles, sink and tap, and a sprinkling of wow, it looks like a brand-new space. One of Wendy’s favourite features is the new lighting above the island, and the open timber shelving, perfect for displaying favourite finds.

“I wanted to create a classic Hamptons vibe in this Redlands Bay, Queensland reno” ~ interiors expert Wendy Moore

Dining: Extending off the kitchen was a previously builky dining set that didn’t match the new Hamptons vibe. Wendy has a love of circular tables as they’re great for conversation (and lazy susans). Bentwood chairs in white are perenial, centred on a rug by Flooring Xtra. “I loved re-creating this open plan dining area! It now feels like an entertainer’s space - it just flows,” says Wendy. It also adds appeal for young families, who could see themselves gathering in this lovely little spot.

Outdoors: The outdoor area didn’t get any use, partlly because there was no comfortable place to rest. That’s all changed now – landscape designer Dennis Scott had a vision was for a brand-new entertaining zone so potential buyers could see themselves entertaining, relaxing and just getting the most out of this home – and what a result! The outdoor couch is another stylish yet practical addition, and an outdoor rug adds a dash of pizzazz.
