Selling Houses Australia’s Central Coast cool in Terrigal, NSW

Terrigal, NSW

In this episode of Selling Houses Australia, the team headed to the NSW central coast beachside town of Terrigal, to meet Grant, the owner of an interesting but bland home situated high on a hill. With hopes of updating his home and captilising on an influx of Sydneysiders looking for coastal homes, Grant had taken on the renovation of his home back in 2017 with gusto – and simply not completed many of the tasks. With exposed walls, ceilings and a bathroom with no fittings, fixtures or even lighting, the home needed to be completed so that Grant could sell the home and focus his attention on his ailing mother.

To landscape designer Dennis Scott’s delight, the home had an inground pool, albeit one surrounded by a potentially dangerous deck. And interior designer Wendy Moore had challenges to deal with inside, too – the home was a ‘renovator’s delight’ that was only partially complete. Wendy and Dennis took on the challenge to deliver a home with updated coastal-meets-Boho flair – and what a transformation!

Kitchen renovation made easy

Wendy Moore needed to add some serious style to this room. Starting with a new benchtop and splashback from Granite Transformations, the team then added some glam with Sardinia Ceiling pendants in White from Emac Lawton Lighting, handles from Mother of Pearl & Sons, a splash of Wattyl paint and underpinned it all with Merseyside Vista Wistly Spotted Gum from Flooring Xtra.

Stylish eat-in kitchen ideas

Simple changes to the eat-in bench area made a big difference, including less obtrusive stools and a bright new benchtop from Granite Transformations. Use the slider and you’ll note that many of the details are the same, from the fridge to the staircase railing – it just needed that little push to finish it off and have it looking glam.

“The biggest challenge in this home was just getting all those small jobs completed – which added up to one big job!” ~ interiors expert Wendy Moore

Bringing boho style to the living room

More than anything this home needed to be finished. A lot of us live this way, putting off completing those little projects, that just grow and grow and grow and then feel insurmountable... In this newly Boho-fied living zone, the floors are Merseyside Vista Wistly Spotted Gum from Flooring Xtra, with a Huxley rug in White for comfort and cosyness.

How to get a boho bathroom

This boho bathroom is kitted out in Beaumont Tiles finest, from the Iris vanity backed by Ignition Mint Gloss mosaics, to the Misha fittings in Gold.

Boho bedroom style

A rattan bedhead was essential to deliver the boho vibes. Try Black Mango for one like this.  The walls are painted in soothing Wattyl paint.

Did Selling Houses Australia Terrigal sell?

Sadly, not long after Grant’s home was listed, his mother Margaret passed away. Several months on, he re-listed the property in a cooler market and it sold for $1.35 million. We wish him all the best.
